慎熙鹏教授在讲座最后抛出了两个振聋发聩的问题，邀请每个人审视自身与未来：如果我们的工作在未来三年内被自动化，我们该如何重新定义自己的价值与时间？我们是否应该为了控制风险而主动延缓AI发展，即使这意味着可能推迟像治愈癌症这样的重大突破？
Right to Thrive Explores AI’s Impact on Law and Innovation in Virtual Workshop

On December 14, Right to Thrive hosted a virtual educational workshop via Zoom that explored how artificial intelligence is reshaping law, innovation, and intellectual property. The event brought together students and community members for an accessible, forward-looking discussion led by two expert guest speakers.
The first speaker, Dr. Xipeng Shen of North Carolina State University, examined the future implications of artificial intelligence across society. Dr. Shen shared exclusive insights into AI 2027, and discussed how rapid advances in AI are influencing decision-making, automation, and ethical considerations, emphasizing the importance of public understanding as these technologies become more embedded in everyday life.
The workshop’s second presentation was delivered by Dr. Dorothy Deng, a patent attorney who also holds a Ph.D. in computer science. Dr. Deng focused on how AI is transforming the patent landscape, including its impact on patentability standards, prior art searches, and the legal challenges surrounding AI-generated inventions. Her talk highlighted the growing intersection between technical expertise and legal practice in an increasingly AI-driven economy.
The event reflected Right to Thrive’s mission to increase legal literacy within the community by making complex legal and technological topics understandable and engaging. As a nonprofit organization, Right to Thrive aims to empower individuals with knowledge that helps them navigate legal systems and emerging societal issues.
